AboutA ABACC

The Brazilian-Argentine Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials (ABACC) was established on 18 July 1991 with the mission of verifying compliance with the commitment undertaken by Argentina and Brazil to the exclusively peaceful use of nuclear energy through the implementation of the regional safeguards system known as the Common System for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Materials (SCCC).

OURWORK

ABACC implements the SCCC, whose principal verification tool is inspections, to ensure that nuclear materials at all nuclear facilities in Argentina and Brazil are used exclusively for peaceful purposes. To maintain the highest standards of performance, technical cooperation with national and international institutions and organizations, together with the continuous training of its inspectors, constitutes an essential part of its activities.

ABACC receives visit from representatives of the Navy Technological Center – São Paulo (CTMSP)

On January 14, 2026, the CTMSP technical advisor, Eng. Ricardo Koji Yamamoto, and Frigate Captain Eng. André Gustavo Barbosa paid a courtesy visit to ABACC headquarters. Secretary Marco Marzo gave a presentation on the creation, structure, and verification activities of ABACC, followed by a tour of the technical units.
